I know where I can get some nice examples of silver dollars. They have 5 of them, they are a nice size and they look healthy. The only thing is there is one that chases the others around. Is this only temporary you think since they're in what maybe equals a 20 gallon display tank? Will it change when I put them in my 55 gallon?

Just trying to be careful as I don't want any aggression in my tank and I don't wanna have to take these fish back out.

I also witnessed the same with what was maybe 10 smaller red bellied pacus in the same sized tank. Man do those fish have some mouths when open! :hyper:

silver dollars temprement can change, they sometimes chase eachvoer around, but they never bite or bash etc. no harm comes from it, its because they are a group. in my tank, its only ever one sivler dollar and hes the biggest, i think he is trying to assert that he is the dominant leader of my lil group. they never aggro anything besides eachover and even then its only once every few weeks.

Silver Dollars never do any damage to the school, but may chase each other. A problem that can arise with SD's is that if you have long finned fish they sometimes get nipped. They are close relatives to piranhas and actually have sharp teeth, not nearly as sharp as true piranhas though.

Good to hear AMS. I've started a 55 gallon totally dedicated to Silver Dollars and pictus cats and didn't wanna proceed if I'm gonna have something like African Cichlids on my hands. If I wanted to watch the fish be mean to each other and stress each other out....I'd just put a bunch of red zebra african cichlids in there like I once had.

Thanks for the info!
