Right, so I added 4 Rosy Tetras (2 males, 2 females) to my 60litre tank on Tuesday (I know they do better in larger roups and plan to add more), I also have 8 Neon Tetra.

Over the last couple of days everything has been fine...the new additions have been very active...the Males have been displaying, etc...However I've woken up this morning to find the largest male on abit of a rampage!!! He's tearing around the tank chasing the others...but moreso the smaller male! The smaller male's dorsal fin is also slightly shredded (it was fine last night)...The dominant Male has also coloured up alot. The smaller male is just hiding away until the bigger one finds him...

What do you think I should do? I want a peaceful community and added these fish as I had read and been advised that they could be kept with a Betta...(I haven't added a betta yet)

Should I add two more and see what happens? if so then should I add another male:female pair? Or just add 2 females?

Should I remove the aggressive one and take him back?

Should I keep one male and stick to 5 females (although then I'd loose the awesome displays they've been giving)?

I'd get some more if your tank has the room. Nearly all these kinds of aggression problems in barbs and tetras can be cured by adding more fish to the shoal :good:

If not, I'd take the whole lot back and swap for something more peaceful; glowlights or green neons perhaps.

Thanks Fluttermoth...It's a 60 litre tank so haven't got too much room tbh...can definetly fit in another 2...ideally 4 but we'll see! They seem to have calm down abit now!

Would you suggest another mal and female? Maybe spread the aggression between males?

I think I'd get two females if I were you :)

Ok thanks fluttermoth...They do seem to have calmed down alot now! Maybe it was just a case of sortin out who was the dominant one! I'll still be adding a couple more maybe next weekend! :good:

Yes, it could have been that. Glad to hear they've settled down now, that's great news :)

Well I've got 5 & the one male is always chasing the others about!

However he runs a mile if any of the zebra loaches moe towards him!
