I had two males and two females in my 75 gallon tank One male paired up with the female and then all of a sudden my other male was gone for about a week. The other day I look in the tank and he is in there but had lost most of his color and looked really stressed. I thought he was dead for sure.

My pair killed off the other female for sure, I caught them both taking turns pecking at her up against the glass at the top of the tank, she was on her side. I tried to rescue her but she died hours later in a quarantine tank.

Now that my other male is back, the pair keep chasing him and the male chases him so much.

There are a lot of places to hide in my tank and I have a lot of plants. I don't know what to do. I thought adding a female would help but she ended up getting killed and now my male isn't looking too good.

I don't have anywhere to put him so he has to stay in my 75 gallon for now.

Have any of you experienced something like this before?

The two males use to get along fine and I bought them from the fish store together. Now that they have paired up they are overly aggressive towards him and my paired male will not stop chasing him everywhere he swims.

Should I try to catch him and return him? (This would probably take an entire day)

Or should I try to add another couple females to my tank?

Try adding another male and two females. That should spread out the aggression, and if the others pair up they'll have back up in a fight. I have 4 male 2 female rams in a50 gallon no one gets singled out

Right now my stock is

4 angels
3 german blue rams
1 albino bristlenose pleco
1 gold gourami
1 guppy

Do you think I would be fine adding another male and two females?

Yeah that should be fine! If you have a breeding pair and one other ram, that ram will be bullied. If you have a bunch, in my experience when one ram goes at another he cant chase him for too long cos eventually he'll draw the wrath of another ram allowing the first one to escape. It will also force your pair to stay closer to their territory.

One note though, if you go this route, don't expect to have perfect finnage on your rams. Only my biggest strongest rams have perfect fins, the others get nips and tears from time to time, but they never do serious harm to one another
