Okay my quarantine tank is now empty after a case of ich. Would it be best to be some hot water from the sink into the tank for a few days just to make sure it's all gone. I'm going to be getting some new fish next week so I want to make sure there is nothing left. Any ideas on how to prepare?

Just swill the tank with salt water and rinse to make sure the salt has gone, run filter in hot water with salt in it to make sure the parasites are dead.

Wel I've done that for 3 days with aquarium salt in the tank and filter with the hottest tap water I have.

Hi..the ich organism should be dead/gone. After 2-3 days without a fish, it dies. However, to be on the safe side, if you can, I would disinfect with bleach. It rinses out very easily. In medicine, we use a 1/4% solution topically. In this forum, there are quotes of a 1:19 solution. A rough estimate would be a half cup of bleach in a gallon container and then filled with water. Bleach is an excellent disinfectant and cleans out easily with lots of water. SH
