Hi,

I completed a fishless cycle and have fully stoked my tank. The fish have been in the tank now for three days. I have been checking the water chemistry morning and evening.

Being the pessimist that I am I keep expecting to see a spike or rise in toxins. Do you think that after three days I'll hopefully be OK and the tank is balanced?

I would assume so!
Just be careful to keep an eye on your water chemisty if you perform any changes, like changing the filter media for a fresh new one. (which you should always leave the old one either in the filter or in the tank for about a week while the new one grows bacteria on)

Hi pseud,

I sure hope so!

Have you had a chance to check out my pic's? The link is in my signature.

They're not brilliant as the digital camera I have is a cheap one.

I have! Looks good buddy, how are the fish settling in?

p.s we share the same name.

They seem to be (fingers crossed) settling in fine.

My Flame Tetra seem to be quite aggressive. Two of them hide behind my large Amazon Sword pretty much permanently.

We share the same first name?

I'm paranoid about things like that too Andy. There's no harm in continuing to check. You should check the parameters al least once a week anyway until you are very comfortable with the water. I used to check mine every day, Now that my big tanks have been running for 7 months and 4 months, I only check them occasionally, mainly the day after changing filter media to make sure I haven't caused a mini cycle.
