Hi im wondering if anyone has any experience with the African longfin tetra, I'm getting mixed answers regarding full size, do they get as big as my regular congo tetras? As this is where I want to house them with.
Thank you

Hello. I keep several different species of tetras and the Long Finned type is one of the largest fish. With good care, they'll reach 4 to 5 inches. This is very large for a Tetra. I'd like to get some of these myself.

Thank you for your reply.
They are rather big I keep Congos and really enjoy them they are one of my favourites. I've also looked at the super reds but they're rather expensive!

They get along fine with Congo tetras as long as the tank is long enough. A 6-10ft long tank is great, anything less than 4ft is not big enough.

Hello. My favorite Tetra is the Buenos Aires. Roughly the same size as the Congos. Not too colorful, but just right. I have about 40 in different tanks at present. Here's a photo of a young one about 2 inches or so.

They are pretty looking fish.
The African longfins are far to big for my tank so I'm going to either add more Congos or something else.
Thanks both
