Hi! I have a 5 gallon tank with a sand bottom, driftwood and plants. For the last 3 years we've had just 2 nerite snails in there (they're old man snails at this point I guess). I make snello for them, which is spinach & peas, calcium powder, crushed algae wafers, crushed bottom feeder shrimp pellets and gelatin. I feed them by dropping a small frozen cube in the tank and they eventually find it overnight.
Last week we got 2 African Dwarf frogs. They acclimated really well and I've been feeding them bloodworms and Bug Bites insect larvae betta flakes (using tongs to get it right in front of them, they don't come to the surface to feed). They eat well. But I noticed they've also been eating the snail food. I've fed the snails twice in the last week, and both times the whole block is gone in minutes. The snails aren't getting any!
1. Is it going to hurt the frogs to eat that much green veg and algae? What about the gelatin? There's a tiny amount of shrimp in there, but it's mostly green stuff. If they fill up on it I'm worried they won't get enough actual protein.
2. I don't want my snails to starve, but they eat much slower than the frogs. Has anyone with snails and frogs had this problem?
3. If the frogs like it so much, maybe I can make them their own jello cubes with just bugs and shrimp protein and no veg? I can't keep live brine shrimp or bloodworms for them, and I'm wondering what everyone else feeds their frogs.
Thanks!

I have the opposite problem. My mystery snail beats the frogs to their food.

Maybe if you remove what is drawing the frogs to it ?

Try a batch without bottom feeder shrimp pellets for example.
