African Clawed Frogs on the news

That's so terrible - people just don't think these things through do they? It isn't like we don't have other examples of introduces species wrecking havoc on local wildlife either... What to do? I hope they come up with a solution before thry can't contain them, if it isn't already to late.

ALASKA

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, maybe we've just educated someone that was thinking of releasing their "too large for tank" fish or other...

This isn't a too large for tank issue. And most of the suspected releasers are people that should know better. Peopl like researchers studying the frogs, and LFS owners who might have received the frogs by mistake (or on purpose).

I guess they might have good reason to worry. These little frogs can survive even an African drought, so they will thrive in the mild California climate.

man, to think they might go the way of the walking catfish (and in some areas the snakehead)! those frogs are in almost every lfs i go to, so it would be a shame not to see them anymore.

and people need to take more responsibility getting info on species before they keep em, and lfs should take more responsibility with certain breeds, but won't because they won't make a profit. :/

I suppose they could raise the prices on the A C Frogs and people may think a little more about buying a $20 frog and then throwing it out?? :dunno:

Makes me sad to read things like that :-(
