AFD with betta who has velvet

Is there a way to treat an afd that was with a betta who has velvet? I've isolated the betta for treatment, and want to clean the tank, but I need to know if an afd can get velvet and what treatment to give him so the betta does not get velvet again when I put them back together. Thanks!!
