Aeration Question

I am contemplating getting another betta and I would put him in my room. I'm still not sure what kind of tank I'm going to be getting, but I might get the same tank I have for my betta I already have. 2 gallon hex

I like this tank, but the air pump is a little loud. It's fine for the family room that it's in. But I find I have a hard time sleeping with noise. So I was wondering if it would be okay to turn it off during the night? I've read that bettas don't even need aeration? I leave it on all the time with my current betta. He actually seems to like it. He often hangs out right where the bubbles come out. He's a weird guy.

it may seem noisey at first but you get used to it, trust me i have a very load filter in 15 but now i hardly hear it, i know its loud becaus ewhen people come round its the first thing they say, and the tank is right near my head

you will get used to it if you leave it, but no, bettas do not need aeration

I figured I'd get used to it, but I was just wondering if bettas really needed aeration. But I just remembered that that tank's UGF is powered by the aeration thing, so I'd have to leave on anyway.

Now I'm thinking of a 5 gallon mini-bow because I'm thinking I want more room for live plants, I just hope the filter on that is quiet.
