Down a dark hole... Down a dark hole... with an ow
Hi there,

I noticed a pair of the above cichlids in my lfs yesterday, they were in with a bunch of gouramis and looked great and really peaceful!

I was wondering whether these would be suitable for my tank, it is planted and has smooth gravel substrate and logs etc......

Any ideas....

Here are some pics -

that first one looks just like a Aequidens pulcher and i think it is as well, whats the common name for those fish?

Common name: blue points cobalt????
It a blue acaras cousin that explains why they look so much alike.
Max Size about 15cm, pair up like most cichlids and defend there eggs, Omnivore so i guess you would do everything the same as a blue acara.

hmmm, not sure hey, i cant find any pics of the common name u gave....
Lets wait and see if anyone knows anything of the species, or even better, somebody whos got some...

I notice you have some Blue acaras, i presume these are not suitable for my tank....

I would say they would do fine in your tank, there the same as the ones you just got and get to the same size, the only thing that would be bad is they might cross breed.

Funny thing is i cant find a profile on that common name as well.

Not really there pretty peaceful, they used to fight with my Jags alot untill i moved the jags out. The only real time i can remember them being agressive is when they were breeding and i mean they were agressive they killed 7 of my fish but ripping into them but besides that there pretty harmless against most cichlids.
