Advise On Cleaning An Old Marine Tank

Just bought a second hand tank which up until 2 weeks ago had a marine set up inside. I will be using it for tropicals only, but need to give it a good clean first. It seems to have a small amount of white coloured build up of something on the glass. Calcium/ salt, I haven't got a clue? What would be best to clean it out with? Any suitable products? Thanks in advance for your help.

Vinegar, alot of elbow grease, an old credit card (or similar plastic card) and alot of patience! Goodluck.
