Hiya.
I had a dream about putting together my "danger tank" - that is, the fish (& others), that wouldn't get along with each other. (I have 3 community tanks already).

So one day I put the Ropefish in with the Apple Snail. Cool
Then I had some glass catfish - greatest transparent creatures on the planet.
Then I removed the Glass Cats.
Then added a "wayward" med. size Angelfish
Then (stupidly), a Betta.
Then, a Pleco.

Everybody gets along.

Problem being, I should give the angel to another home, along with the betta, as they really don't live up to the 'danger zone' tank I had imagined.

I want to get a lobster..or two.

Does anybody know if the lobster will reek havok on the Pleco?
(I assume the Apple snail will be OK - despite the odd snip).
How about the Ropefish & lobster? Any experience with both?

Ta,

Lobster+any fish=one fat lobster

Crayfish (lobsters) and fish dont mix well and should never be kept together, at some point the lobster will get hold of the fish and dismantle it with its claws.

Why do you want a danger zone tank when you could have a species only tank, with aggressive fish that have a bigger chance of not killing each other.

Actually, I didn't word this right. I didn't mean fish that hated each other - but just what you said. Fish (or other) that get along in the same tank, yet were not welcomed in a communal tank.

I have no devilish desire to see creatures eat each other...despite the US Election!

Thats quite the strange mix of fish you got going there.
I also was under the impression that you wanted to make a tank where all the fish were incompatible and would kill each other all day. Well, its a little too late to make a species only tank.

I hear what you say,...but when you think about it in an awful sense...
that would last one day / one dark night! Eeeek.

No no,..I swear, that's the last thing I'd do. My current tank has been very 'groovin' for about 4 months, though just last weekend, I plucked the 4 Glass Cats and put them in the big tank with the other 7 Glass cats, and they're now teaching each other things. (Along with 22 neons, 2 platys, 2 mating swords.) Not because I feared for their lives..but just wanted to aquaint themselves with the other 'blood'.

The remaining Angel, Ropefish, Apple snail, Betta, Pleco, are all fine. Though, I want the Angel and Betta to have a better home (be it mine or elsewhere), and I guess I'll move my Ropefish into the "Gourami Only" tank in my office, as he'll be ok there. The Pleco goes into the big tank (with the neons...he's small..for now..)

So, I'll be left with the Apple Snail (about 1 inch diameter), and ....um Lobsters??
(Damned Apple snails are so cool,..yet chew the plants! Can't put him in any other tank!)

thots?
