Heres a problem maybe you guys can help me with. My Oscars in a 20 gallon right now but hes quickly getting to the point where he's going to need a new tank...with the way he eats anyway. I'm all ready to go out and buy him something more his size so he can be comfortable as he gets larger but I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building and move back home every summer (400km's). I could however leave him with my gf in the summer, just down the road from here but theres still the problem of a big tank in a little apartment and then moving him to her place during the summer months. I'm starting to get worried about my little fishy. I don't want to have to give him up because of something like this but its getting down to crunch time. Any thoughts?

75g minimum for a full grown Oscar. Most apartments can handle a 75g but check first just in case.

at 4"? I put my fish in a 5g pail with tank water. Never had a problem yet. :)

Oh and welcome to TFF. Great to have another cichlidiot around here. :smb:

Edit: err how long is 400 km's? That might make a difference.

Hey thanks. Its nice to have people to talk to about our fishy friends. Especially if an emergency comes up.

Moving him back home in the summer on a 400km drive (About 250 miles? Somewhere around there) is pretty much out of the question. It would be too stressful for the fish. Its about a 4 hour drive. I'm leaning towards just moving the stuff to my gf apartment for the summer months. She'll take good care of him since shes been there looking after him since the day I got him.

Ohh ok. I was confused, what's new.

Yea, if it's only for an hour or less, then my original idea is ok. :)

I think I'll stick with the quick transport idea then. It shouldn't take more than half an hour to move him to the other apartment and get him set up for his summer home. Your location says "Canada Bound..." if thats true you should get used to using km's :D
