I had to separate my two Sunburst platys last night. Sunrise kept bullying Dusk. So, I bought a 5 gallon tank. Put Dusk and my betta in there (not ideal, but Flash was stressing out in his 3 gallon tank). Dusk and Flash get along just great. They swim together. They might as well be of the same species. As soon as I get another job (had to quit my previous one for stress related issues), I am going to save up for a 36 to 50 gallon tank and get a few female platys and try to get Dusk and Sunrise back in the same tank.
Last night, Dusk was swimming and eating just fine. Him and Flash were getting along just great. Today, Dusk barely wants to move and is refusing food. Might have to try him out on Tubifex worms tonight, but I also noticed a couple of sores where Sunburst bit him. He was too active last night to have noticed the spots. Kind of looks like he lost a few scales.
Anyways, I have aquarium salt and API stress coat. Doing a partial water change every day for the next few days until the tank is completely cycled. The tank has a heater. Has a light. Has a filter.
What should I do? Should I use aquarium salt to try to heal him faster or just let mother nature heal him naturally? I am also wondering if I should follow the directions on the Stress Coat for "Diseased or stressed fish" (which is basically using double the amount of product than what one would typically use for a water change.
Advice?
Thanks!
