Hi all

I was debating whether to put my 6 cory juvi's in the main tank, since i've added guppy fry to the tank, its starting to get a bit overcrowded!

I daily do 50% w/c and bottom clean but seem to have lost 2 juvi's in the past 2 wks,
Then this morning the 3 wk baby died

I'm gutted,i've lost these, whether its coincedence it starting happening when i put the guppy fry in i don't know.

So at the moment i suppose the remaining juvi's are about 2 months old and 3/4 to an 1 inch long, would it be safe to put these in my 216 litre tank,or leave them a bit longer in the fry tank.

any help appreciated :)

Well what do you have in your 216 litre? Anything big that may consider them a tasty snack? I'd leave them where they are for a bit longer yet.

I would wait a bit until they are and inch each minimum. They also sound quite fragile, so maybe wait a little. Are they fast enough to avoid the other fish in your tank and can they fit into any of the fishes mouths in your 216L?

Thanks :)

In the main tank is platys, guppies, corys, tetras.

There are small platy juvi's in there also, some less than an inch, the adults leave them alone,so they probably wouldn't hassle them too much, there's just one female platy that tends to push the corys around at feeding time, but they seem to make a move when neccessary
All the platy young are coming out tomorrow has i've sold them :good:

Hi Harlequins :)

Once they are big enough to be safe from predation, you can move them to a peaceful community tank. Keep in mind that while they are still in the fry tank you can give them more food and do lots of water changes to keep the water and substrate fresh despite possible overfeeding. Once they are moved into a community they are pretty much on their own.

Thanks inchworm :)

That was the thing i was worried about was would they get enough food if they went in my main tank,i'm just so gutted that i've lost some,

I think my adult fish would leave them alone,i've safely put platy fry in there with no bullying.

I'll continue to see how they get on in the fry tank for now.like you said at least i can make sure they're feeding etc

Thanks everyone :good:
