Hi all,

I am going to be taking delivery on Saturday of a 140 litre tank as some of you may have read. I looking to see what my maximum fish stock quantities are going to be:

My preferred fish to stock are as follow and I have set my heart on these so probably won’t sway:

Cardinals or Neon Tetras
Pummynose Tetras
Zebra Danios
Cherry Barbs

This is my tank broken down:

1x Tetratec EX1200 External Filter
1x Hydor 300w External Heater
1x Interpet AV4 Air Pump
Natural Gravel
2x Small Pieces of Bogwood
2/3 Small Pieces of Slate
finally a few plastic plants (in future looking to change for real).

Looking forward to the reply.

if you are intrested in neons then a big shoal of them looks awesome in a 140l you could probs have 30 of them and since you have bogwood you ccould get a brisslenose plec to eat algea and clean your tank. but make sure you cycle it before you put neons in as they need good water quality.

the larger the quantity of any schoaling fish the better, so having 4 different kinds of them in that tank will minimze the effect as you can probably only have 8 of each. This will give the tank a very 'messy' feel as all four intermingle.

I'd be much more inclined to get just one or at the most, two species and up the numbers.

cambojnr, I’ll get a bristlenose and i think I’ll drop the danios.

Zoddyzod, I love the rummynose in a fish shop I have found, they look in amazing condition. The missus and I like the look of the cardinals BUT the missus wants the cherry barbs and I’ve kind of had to go along with this because if I didn't I may not have had my tank, ha, though they are a nice looking fish.

If under that instruction 32 fish max, I think 6 cherrys then an even split between rummynose and cardinals maybe my choice.

I will ensure everything is totally bang on before doing any of this, hence going O.T.T. on the filter etc for the size of tank

rummys generally form a very tight group, cardinals less so but still impressive in ample numbers.

think the barbs will swim around pretty randomly.

she would choose something that wouldn't do what I want the affect to be, I give up  , I know what she'll say "can you not train them"

rummys are amazing, I'm going to swear here and I'm sorry pets at home have some rummys in and they are so poor, I mean the colour, another fish shop out of my town the quality of this fish is exceptionally good, these are my numero uno choice

If you want a bristlenose plec or in fact any of the smaller type plecs then i'd change the gravel to sand as gravel can injure their mouths
