Last night before going bed I saw my large severum in a castle ornament ,I just got home looked in the tank ,not sure if its just gone in again or stuck from last night,i picked it up tried make it come out but it won't ,should i smash it?

The ornament not the fish.

Will it kill the fish if i smash it or should I just wait?

I dont like the idea of smashing it, im sure that will cause stress to the fish, if it managed to get in there im sure it can get back out, keep an eye on it, try feeding and see what happens first.

good luck

ok I'll wait abit ,its a thick ornament to would have use the hammer, not to keen on doing that,I'll give it another hour then try shake it out .

I can't tell if its alive either at moment -_- Might wait for my dad to look at it.

Thank you

Just put food in it never moved :/

You could try trying to smash it from the inside out. use some pliers on the inside and try opening them as far as they will go and hope it breaks outwards.

I think someone used a safe lubricant and smeared it round the opening to help the fish out, but I can't remember the product he used.

Its out we smashed the ornament.fish doesn't look to good its spaced out at moment :(

Just leave him quite with the tank lights turned off, he will be extremely stressed with the ordeal, I would recommend adding some melafix to the tank if he has a few wounds from the ordeal.

I'm not familiar with this species of fish. However (can't tell by the picture) if it has spines that are keeping it lodged, try turning off the lights and removing it when lights are out. It might relax.
