I'm currently treating one of my mollies for internal parasites and this morning I noticed another mollies scraping herself against the plants. I need to treat the community tank as a whole. Should I use a parasite tab? I have promethyasul, but this contains malachite green which I'm sure will stain and don't know about its safety with plants. Will parasite tabs stain the tank or damage my live plants in any way? I've never had to treat for this before so I really need some advice. TIA

Well, for a start you cant use two treatments at the same time anyway, so you must finish the course you are doing now, then change 25% water, and filter through carbon for at least a day.

Malachite green isnt great for plants, but I havent seen it kill them outright, they will recover. What are you using to treat internal parasites, and why do you think they are internal parasites. If the fish is scratching, the parasites are external.

Something like quick cure contains Malachite Green and Formalin, and is effective against protozoa eg. Ich, flukes, fungus and some bacterial infections. Its a good bet if you arent sure what the problem is.

That's right, I don't know! It's just that I can't see any outward evidence. Is there anything I can use that won't damage the plants?
