We moved our clown plec from one tank to another, both mature cycled tanks, acclimated him etc, let him go and after a while put the lights on.

I just looked in on him about an hour later and he's gone practically white! I know the lights are stronger on this tank so it may be that it seems worse than it is, but I imagine this is the stress of moving? Or is it possible he was sucking on one of the stones and it is camouflage?

Is there anything I can do? Would he be better left or should I move him back to the other tank? Tank lights are off and I've nudged him into a hiding spot under some bogwood where he's latched on, I wasn't going to feed the tank for a day to give the bio-filter a chance to catch up with him but would an algae tab help?

Just leave it alone would be my advice.

Assume the parameters of both tanks were the same?

Same water source so yeah, although I don't know the exact ph it should be the same in both tanks and all stats at 0 as I just did a change in both tanks. He has now gone into hiding and I can't find him at all so I will wait til tomorrow and do a proper search. I hope he's ok, it gave me a proper fright!

By way of an update he now seems to be fine. He has found a hiding spot under some wood and his colour has come back. Phew.

Yesterday I bought a baby bristlenose, when I got him home he hadn't enjoyed the journey - he was pale and clamped up. After acclimating him gently he sprung back in seconds and is busy nomming on all the algae!

Fishes go pale when in stress - like when moving them around and in to a new tank. If the color comes back it's allright. :) Many plecos also change their colors and patterns a bit depending on the color of the bottom area.
