hi i have just bought a new fish tank and was looking around the web for some advice on what fish go well together in a community tank i got some conflicting views i have a few ideas what i want and wondered if anyone though my possible setup below is a good set up or will i be plagued with probles these are what i plan to get.

2 Angelfish
3 dwarf gouramis
8 tetras
1 african dwaft frog
4 gupies

would these fish go together or can someone tell me any i should lose and get to make it a more peaseful tank

any help would be appreciated thanks

What size tank were you thinking?

Also, you should be aware that sexing angels is near impossible when they are young and most people, to get a pair, get a small group of at least 6 and then simply return the excess fish when they are older. If you don't care about breeding etc, or are going to get a proven pair, this won't matter to you anyway.

Having said that, adult angels, especialy if they do breed, can be extremely nasty. I would not keep a dwarf frog with them and would strongly advise against guppies as well.

What kind of tetras were you planning on? Very small, neon-shaped fish will get eaten by adult angels. If you want tetras, go for a species with a taller shape or larger size and only add the angels once they are grown - tetras such as black phantom or emperors would work. Also, avoid anything nippy (serpaes or black widows/skirts for example) because, not only may they nip the angels, your dwarf gouramies will also likely end up with no feelers.

IMO, you'd be best off skipping the angels entirely. The rest will get along fine together provided the tetras you choose are not something nippy. You then can also pretty much fit everything in a 30 gallon (minnimum) - with the angels AND 3 gouramies, you would have needed something somewhat larger.
