Hey, I'm new to keeping Rainbow Kribs and want to know about their breeding tendancies. I have 2 females which I purchased because I have long fined Barbs in the tank and apparently males can get aggressive towards them when mating. Basically, one of them has a pink belly that is slightly jutting out, does that mean their pregnant? Will I need a nursery tank? I got them from a tank with the ratio 3 females: 7 males.
In my tank I have: (not aggressive fish)
Rosy barbs
Yo yo/ tiger loach
Bristlenose pleco (female)
Gold barbs
Danios (long fined zebra and giant)
Rainbow Gobies (about 5 or 6)
Tetras (silvertip and blood fins )
Neon rainbow fish

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have 2 females you won't need a nursery tank as you don't have a male to fertilise any eggs they might lay. Some species of cichlids will lay eggs without a male, but I do not if kribs are among them.
The female krib may possibly have eggs but nothing will come of them.

If you post a photo of the fish, members will be able to say if it is eggs or if there's something wrong.

Funny mistake... But hey, we all had our problems when we started...
And welcome to our forum... :hi:

I'm used to dealing with livebearers. I had a Mollie fry for ages it was so cute. Weird though cause it's alleged parents didn't last very long.. got them from a bit of a dodgy fish shop tho ( although I didn't know that at the time) I don't go there anymore 😅

Once you raise a fish you've bred, how long it lives is generally up to your skills. Fish from shops experienced a lot before you got them, and if that was negative, lives are shorter.
We're quick to call inbreeding on fish, but I doubt that's the problem. It's poor treatment early in the supply chain that causes more issues.
