A couple of times I've found what looks like a fossilised bunch of grapes. quite hard like stone, pinkish beige colour about an inch long on th eunderside of my tank lid.I have seveal apple snails assorted colours and sizes. I assumed they were stalatcites formed by condensed water dripping and unfortunately removed them.Just found out that apple snail eggs are hard
1.Are these apple snal eggs
2.How long do they take to hatch
3. What if anything should I do to help them hatch and take care of baby snails
4. Do the baby snails drop into th ewater when they hatch and fend for thenselves

I'd love to breed baby apple snails so adice would be much appreciated

2.How long do they take to hatch (2 weeks, depends on temp)
3. What if anything should I do to help them hatch and take care of baby snails (just leave them alone)
4. Do the baby snails drop into th ewater when they hatch and fend for thenselves (yes)

Do any of the snails have dark bodies as im looking for dark bodied snails, possible purple or blue.

You will see the colour of clutch change as they get nearer to hatching, i think its the snails you can see through the clutch. Good luck i hope they hatch soon, di

Yes they sound like apple snail eggs.

They take between 2-4weeks to hatch

All you need to do is make sure the tank stays humid (ie. don't leave the lid off for long periods of time)

Yes they drop into the water and fend for themselves

One warning. Each inch of eggs will produce around 150 baby snails. In a tank with no predators around 90% will survive to adulthood so have fun finding them all new homes! lol.

Purple and blue snails - do they occur naturally in these colours or are they dyed? My largest snail is a pale gold, the others are browm or brown and yellow striped. No idea of the sex of each snail(all snails look the same to me) or who the parents are if they hatch ut you are welcome to baby snails. The big gold one often hangs around on the surface so she may be Mum, I once saw the 4 largest snails close together in a row one on top of the other. Was this a snail orgy??? If so there will be lots of baby apples on the way!

All I can say is make sure you have plenty of tank room for the little guys. I let one batch of eggs hatch and there were way more than I expected! I now have to dispose of any additional eggs since my tank space is severely limited :(

As for the colours, I'm not sure if it occurs naturally or if they were bred that way, but the apple snails I purchased are purple and pink in colour. The babies range from being pure white to being pink, purple and even green in colour!

From my experience (not much, mind you, so please take with a grain of salt), my female dwarfs my male even though they were the same size when I purchased them. I was unable to sex them according to the applesnail.net site but it does state that the females are larger than males. Also, males will mount other males but the females do not mount other snails I believe. I would be willing to bet that the large gold snail you've described is indeed the mum.

The egg clusteer - if they were indeed eggs- has disappeared!
So does this mean baby snails hatched or could it just gave fallen in the water and dissolved as the previous ones did? What do I do next? I wanted to vac clean the sand but am afraid of vaccuming up the baby snails. Do baby apples hide in the sand like MTS or climb up tank walls?

Pink purple and green snails sound amazing - mine are just brown and yellow

They may have dropped into the tank but they shouldn't 'dissolve'. Mine never did when they fell in.

Considering when you first noticed them in the tank I'd say they probably dropped in. But if they did hatch then you'd be able to see at least a few babies. They look like little white blobs and around a few mm newly hatched. They do hide in the sand a bit, but if a full clutch hatches you'd definitely know about it.

Found another cluster of eggs that seems to have dried out. Should I dampen them with a litle water or are they OK dry. They are out of the water 1inch above surface and very dry

They should be dry and crusty on the outside. It acts as a buffer/protection for the eggs on the inside. If you're ready for hundreds of baby snails then just sit back and relax. They'll hatch :)
Try not to leave the lid off for extended periods of time, but other than that there is nothing you need to do.

The outside of the clutch is dry and crumbly when Itouched it, eggs on the outside seemed empty no sign of baby snails in them. I splashed water onto the clutch to stop eggs drying out-could this have harmed them? The tank normally has a lid on at all times except during feeding and weekly water changes.
Really looking forward to my first baby snails. I have several tanks they can live in till big enough to be rehomed

What part of being under water drowns the embryos and they SHOULD be crusty and dry on the outside wasn't clear?

I will repeat (cause I love repeating myself), just make sure the lid isn't left off for extended periods of time, other than that LEAVE THEM ALONE. They will hatch in time.
