this is the one that ate whole, an 8 inch common pleco... I've been buying feeder comets, 20 at a time , and it usually takes a week or a little more, for it to catch them all... I added 20 last night, and it ate some, but killed all the rest, within 24 hours... at least a dozen half eaten gold fish floating on the surface... I moved over my canister filter, with the UV light, as the water was getting a little skanky... if it doesn't finish them in the next day, I'll net them out, and it'll be water change day... looks like it has become a beast, with more desire to kill, than to eat... I may have to buy it larger gold fish... it was originally getting rosy minnows, but about 6 months ago, I switched it to feeder size comets

You might be forced to add them just a couple each time, instead of the whole lot.

Can we see some photos of this beast.:)

that's a hard tank to take pictures, it's only visible from my work area, and faces a wall about 32 inches away... ( 30 years ago it held my feeders, and is an acrylic 55 gallon ) I'll try and get one tonight... it's only a little over a foot long, and about as thick as my wrist, and is a Delhezi Bichir...

It was originally a working fish... I had it outside in my Tilapia Duckweed growing tank, when he was a little guy, to eat mosquito, and other bug larvae, that was 2 years ago... so it's a little over 2 years old

it completely buries its self in the substrate... just it's head poking out right now... I'll try again later

best I could do this morning... sorry, the front plexi is in need of cleaning, but I'm doing maintenance on the filters right now... the canister filter, with the UV, did a good job of clearing the water overnight

they sell these cut little babies at the local pet store, that are so small, they look like large size Kuhli Loaches... I hope the sellers from the store are telling everyone, in a year, they'll be the only fish in their tank... I was totally not expecting this would eat a pleco 3/4 of it's size... now it has gotten a taste for killing... BTW... it did eat all the 1/2 gold fish floating on the top of the tank, last night...

Is it good tankmates for larger cichlids or should it be species only. I’ve heard of people keeping Senegal bichirs with the likes of green terrors and jack Dempseys but not sure if it’s different for the Delhi bichir.

pretty much the same... actually a Cichlid could get eaten, but they could also damage the Bichir, because of it's long shape... it would take a good match, of both fish to work... I actually have a few adult common Silver Dollars in this tank... but the tall thin shape must look like more than a mouth full... I did lose a few baseball sized silver dollars, that I also as hoping they were large enough, but ended up not being so...
