I am looking to adopt a large jack Dempsy. 1 because I have always liked them and 2 because I need a fish to eat my betta fish culls. I have a 100gal and have had the same fish for years. I think adding another fish would be pushing it. I would rehouse some fish if I could fine good homes.

Here is what I have should I adopt a 7" JD I think I know the answer already .
4 silver dollars 4"
2 pictus cats 5-6"
1 Severum 8" 4 years old
1 uaru 8" around 4-5 years old
1 delhezi 5"
1 buffalo head cichlids.

The tank is peaceful and boring. adding a jack might change all that. Or I saw an oscar that needs a home but they get too big and live too long I think.

So should I add another fish to the mix. ?

I think you should be fine with a JD with those, my old boy was lovely and placid, I had him with a severum, birchir, black collard catfish. I have never kept buffalo head cichlids so not sure on that. The only worry personally would be the silver dollars. I had a couple dropped off here in need of a home and the JD went for them (so did the texas) they were 5-6" dollars. The only thing is to try it and see.
