i have just got 3 new silver dollars. they are all in tiptop shape, but are hesitant at exploring their new tank. its nice and has a alot of swimming room, and lots of hiding spots, but they just picked out 2 little spots to go to. i think all they need to do is warm up to the tank and tankmates. how long does it take for silver dollars to adjust to a new tank?? they are currently with 8danios, soon to be with 4pictus, cycled tank, diet of flakes ant boiled crushed carrots.

Sometimes it takes a few days for fish to adjust to their new surroundings. Especially when there are fast moving fish to adjust to also like danios. I've never had sd's act shy for more than a few hours but all fish are different and I've had other species remain shy for a week even until they felt safe.

If you have the tank size for when they mature you might see better results from sd's if they are in a bigger group. If not, they should be more active with time.
