Adhesive Solvents?

Me and my husband just bought a used aquarium and the previous owners had glued some kind of fake rock (styrafoam) to the sides and rear of the tank. We tore it off and then used a razor blade to scrape the adhesive off. However, after all was said and done there is still gunk stuck on the glass. We tried a soft plastic-brissle brush with dish detergent and it still won't come off. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, as well as a brilo pad with hot water nothing seems to work

Acetone (nail varnish remover) will shift most adhesives, you could try that; obviously you'll need to rinse and air well afterwards!
