all posts appreciated thank you

i dont feed mine any different to the rest of the fish, they scavenge through the gravel, i feed my fish tetra prima (which sinks) and tetra min flakes.

Mine eats anything from sinking pellets, flake, frozen brine shrimp, live brine shrimp, live blackworms, and other frozen food (like mysis shrimp)

He isn't too picky and like my fish I try to offer a large variety of yummy and nutritious foods. He just scavenges the floor and waits for live food by sitting on a plant close to the water level. :)

Are you guys talking about ACFs or ADFs? I've owned both but my ADFs never scavenged at the bottom of the tank..I always had to basically put the food right in front of their faces before they would take it. ACFs on the other hand are a lot brighter and do scavenge around searching for food.

Maybe I just had slow ADFs :p

my adfs have never scavenged off the bottom..i had to learn how to feed these guys as it can be tricky. i found that defrosting some blood worm or brine shrimp in a small container first, then pour some of the food and water mix in. this gets them out of hiding and ready to eat, then its good to go.

I wondered for ages what my ADF ate, since I rarely saw it feed but have had it for 8 months and it looks very healthy. I have seen him go nuts a couple of occasions for bloodworm (live or frozen, since it sinks) but have also caught him pecking at algae tablets. I understand their eyesight is poor, which is why they are often last in line behind the guzzlers...but if the food hits the bottom, they seem to find it somehow, especially if it moves (either live, or by water flow from the filter) they can detect movement visually, but otherwise it may be sense of smell.
