Hi there, I am just wondering if anyone here has actually ever had any trouble with their smaller ADF's legs getting caught in the uptake tubes of an Aqua-Clear filter?

Since I bought the ADF's I have been putting cheese cloth around the uptake tube on my Aqua-Clear Mini. It's been nothing but a pain cuz the cheese cloth doesn't last very long and when I remove it parts of the cheese cloth get into the water, etc. Also, having the cheese cloth on the uptake tube seems to really slow down the filter and I don't think it's doing the job it should be doing.

I would like to discontinue use of the cheese cloth but I'm still worried that their little legs could get caught. Anyone have this problem happen to them?

I know some people also use a piece of a ladies nylon but I did that on the uptake tube in my larger fish tank and one of my poor Tetras got his fin stuck in the nylon. I had an awful time freeing him. I would worry that the frogs would get their toenails stuck in the nylon.

Pugwinkle,

Thanks for your advice earlier about ADF's. I went ahead and got three of them. Unfortunately, one seems to have vanished into thin air. That's another story though...

What I did was buy one of those bath loofas at Walgreen's for $2. To be honest I'm not exactly sure if that's what it was called-- it consists of a ball of netted material. Anyways, it's synthetic, and the holes aren't as fine as a nylon. I cut out a piece of it, double layered it and tied it around the intake with some unwaxed dental floss. I haven't had any problems so far, although I have kept the filter down at the lowest level.

Hope that's helpful!
