hi all,

after popping into my local Pets At Home to get a new shrimp for someone elses tank, i spotted a well cute little African Dwarf Frog(its deffo dwarf as it has webbed feet).

after asking the women in there about them all she could tell me was they stay quite small, and are scavengers and will eat normal food and will be ok with the fish i have in my tank already(basically no fin nippers or anything that will harm the frog), so i bought the little fella for a couple of pound!

I'm trying to look up on the net about them so i can care for the little thing better, but all i can really find is that they eat shrimp brine, bloodworm and other meats, and that you basically have to feed him right infront of his mouth as they go off sight reather than smell/scent(via a turkey baster or tweezers).

can anyone give me some hints or tips or anything at all, or even if its ok just having the one frog!!

replies very much appreciated

p.s. look at my sig for an oldish pic of my tank(i need to update it) and a list of what i have in my tank

thank youuuuu!!!! :good:

ADFs like to be in groups(of at least three, 2 at the very minimum). And they're hard to feed as they have to be fed right in front of their mouth. Males have whitish-pinkish dot behind their forelegs, females don't. Oh yeah and they like shelter from the light so provide some of those huts or something.

ive read they need to be in a group of minimum 2, but there was only 1 at my LFS..

and ive noticed it likes hiding under my bogwood and plants quite a bit :)

Hey!
I have seven of the little critters and I absolutely adore them!
When I was first starting out I found a fantastic website that saved me from a million head aches

It has everything you need to know from health, tank mates, tank set up, food, feeding, everything!!!
