I am having a bit of trouble feeding my ADF. I've had him for a while now. I usually feed him the tetra bloodworm or water flea packets. I will just squeeze a bit right in front of him and he usually eats it. Lately, he it's like he can't see it. He'll take a bite here and there, but even if I stuff it near his face, sometimes it's like he doesn't even notice I am trying to feed him. He always hangs out near the water surface for some reason.

Any tips on feeding these guys?

First of all, don't rely on their vision. They're very, very near-sighted, and can hardly see anything at all. They also aren't incredibly bright. But their noses are good, and they'll usually find food well enough if there's some there and they're left to their own devices.

If your frog's getting skinny, you may have to start feeding him with an eyedropper or turkey baster right in front of his nose. But if he's maintaining his current proportions, then don't worry about it. He's probably just finding the food after you're no longer watching.

Well the problem there is that I have a betta in the tank, and she'll eat the leftovers. But i do the baster method without the baster - I simply squeeze a drip right near his nose. Sometimes he bites sometimes not.

I also found a nitrate spike in the water test so that may be effecting him as well.

What time are you feeding your frog?

They're nocturnal, so try feeding your frog right before lights out---say 9-10 o'clock at night, or maybe even a little later. Mine get fed anywhere from 10 o'clock at night to 4 o'clock in the morning (depends on when I get home), and they usually snatch the food right up.

Also, they do not need to be fed daily. Mine are fed every other day, and sometimes every third day.
