Adding vitamin c.

I have noticed my RTBS and two Firemouths have big scars and I want them to regrow their skin faster. I heard Vitamin C helps to regrow skin, so would this help: If I get a jar, clean it out, fill it with tank water, finely chop up small pieces of cucumber, leave them to soak and when it's feeding time, pour it in for the fishes to eat. I got the Idea from seeing a firemouth eat a small piece of cucumber leftover from a slice for a treat for my plec. I'll try this now, also I will add a bit of normal food.

i put about 1/4 of a cucumber peeled and seeded weighted down. all my fish have a nibble.
