I was talking to my LFS about getting a couple of custom tanks made.

He reccommended that I should have spraybars fitted to the back and sides at the bottom of the tank, with the holes facing the middle.

The reasoning is that it makes everything more difficult to settle at the bottom, meaning the filter gets rid of more junk, as everything will stay in suspension that much longer.

Now, this seems like a REALLY good idea. like really really good.

My question is, why doesn't this happen on a regular basis?

Basically, it's just a three sided "ring" or spraybars, with an end cap at the end of each side, powered by a small powerhead.

Can anyone see any issues with this idea?

Thanks

Steve

No issues at all. I do it all the time, using powerheads & a home made filter;

It's a takeoff on this idea; http://cichlid-forum.com/articles/ug_jets.php

Hopefully your way will be OK RipSlider, but surely the undergravel jet idea would mean that you couldn't use real plants in the tank. Undergravel filters are bad enough, but water being pushed up through the root system of the plants would surely kill them off. Well that would be my worry anyway.
Edited:
OK, I know, I'm stupid. Just seen that the outlets are above the sunstrate lol.
