Hi, me again. i am thinking of changing to a external filter, what is the best way to do this. set it up while still using the other filters if so how long would it take for the new one to mature. as in my previous letter i want to change my existing internal filter. what is the best way to do this. hope you can help. thanks

When I removed my Juwel Compact H, I ran my new Eheim external filter alongside (in conjunction) for 2 weeks, and then just entirely removed the Juwel Filter. I didn't experience any spike. So would recommend 2 weeks just to be on the safe side :)

Hi, thanks for your reply in the tank i have two filters the compact and a fluval 2plus would it be better to run the external filter for two weeks with both filters or will one of them do just as well.

Just take the Fluval 2+ sponges and stick them into your new external (they are almost certainly small enough if you scrunch them up). Then keep the Juwel filter in there and remove after a couple of weeks - at which time you can also remove the little Fluval sponges if you wish. Though it won't harm to leave them in your new filter.
