adding more gravel

Hi everyone! I am considering live palnts but will need more substrate for that. Can I just add more to my tank and go, or will cause another cycle, or have some other dreaded effect?? Thank you.

It should be safe as long as you wash the gravel you are puttin in the tank. I would wash it well and then rinse it completely with boiling water and wait for it to cool.

Just rinse the new gravel well and add it to the existing gravel. You will probably see some cloudiness at first but it should clear in a day or so.
