Adding Live Sand?

when you add live sand to an already established sand bed will this hurt my tank at all? thanks everyone!

If it is a thick enough layer that you add on it can suffocate the lower layers.

treat it like live rock, pre-cure it.

If this is "Live" sand that comes from a sealed Oxygen-free plastic bag that's been sitting on a warehouse shelf for who knows how long in who knows what temperature with no water movement, do you actually think anything will be left Live inside that bag? What you'll have is a nutrient-laiden soup of death that shouldn't go into any established tank even if it's biologic filtration capacity can handle the load

i know what you mean but when the tank was put together i added live sand and water and there where at least 50-60 copepods.

its a hit and miss, if the bags are quite new and just arrived straight from the packaging factory, it can be pretty live, if not, then it can be pretty dead.....
