Adding Larger Clown To A Group

I currently have 4 2.5" clowns, and noticed a really nice clown loach in the lfs (close to 4").

Given the clowns' hierarchical structure (mine have a clear leader who is close to 3" now), would adding a larger new loach create an all-out war? Did anyone try this?

There is bound to be a little friction, but I doubt there will be a serious problem.

we had 4 at about 2.5" and added 3 at 3.5 - 4"

they settled in fine - no problems atall

we now have 7 - but only ever see 6 at a time - we've decided that one always stays behind to look after their hiding place

Almost the same thing here: and it is the leader stays behind most of the time.
