Hi. I've set up a new freshwater tank today.

I used to own a Juwel Rekford 700 (70L) tank with a gravel substrate.

I now own a Juwel Lido 120 (120L) tank with a sand substrate.

I used to have gravel in the old tank, but I added sand as a new substrate to the new tank.

All the sand was washed many times until the water ran clear from the bucket.

I transfered all the old filter media (the sponges) to the new juwel filter. I transferred the 70 litres of old water from the old tank to the new tank, topped up with fresh water.

i currently have 1 angel fish, 3 platies and 3 dwarf rainbows in three separate bags, one for each species.

There inside a polystyrene box.

I want to know, can I add them back to the cloudy tank now or will I have to wait until it settles (meaning they will have to sit in the bags overnight). If I have to wait, will they survive in the bags inside the box?

Thanks

The water is just cloudy from the sand and will settle in a few days at most. But its perfectly safe for the fish. I had the same problem with my cichlid tank and they were fine.

I agree, perfectly safe for the fish. In the wild, water doesn't always run clear.
