Adding Extra Light

just saw this suggested in another thread:

<a href="http://www.cupargardencentre.co.uk/acatalo...LUORESCENT.html" target="_blank">http://www.cupargardencentre.co.uk/acatalo...LUORESCENT.html</a>

that the way to go? it doesnt say what size tubes or anything though, so i dont know if i should get 2x 54w or 2x 39w? the tank is 5ft long, but how long would a 54w bulb be?

by the way this is on a planted tank with pressurised co2 and ei dosing

EDIT

never mind, just realised a 5ft tank is 60 inch's, so only the 54w would rach anyways

are these high rated then or a kind of " you get what you pay for" ie rubbish and wont last a couple of months?

they are good, i asked a question a few month back and got no bad replies. I ended up with an arcadia style luminaire as it was cheaper.

really???

any links? :good: :hyper:
mine were £100 deleiverd, the prices i saw were all £106-£115 for the Hagen unit. but i obviously missed that place. which is a shame because that is mega cheap.

don't mind paying £115 if it means decent lighting. last i looked it was around the £400 mark!

one of my lights work on the tank, so i guess i could just buy one unit.

that way i would have 2 x 38w bulbs and 2x 54w bulbs? giving me a total of 184w?

They also put them on auction every few weeks, I got mine for £26 plus £20 delivery complete with daylight tubes

but that says only 2 x 54w, it would be half the price if i was to buy the above? even if i bought 2 of the above its still cheaper? does this one give out a total of 216w? or just 108?

although im used to workinf in T8 not T5

yeah, you can get them at really good prices if you keep your eye out.

the one i linked too is 108w T5 and yes it is dearer than the hagen unit. Like i said above i missed that place, i wouldnt of thought twice about buying a 108w light unit at £50 or whatever it was! i would go for that one.

so do you think one would be ample enough? its an 83 gallon tank. for the time being i would run this with my other 2 bulbs that still work which are 2x 38w T8's. Although would want to either get rid of them and only have the one double unit or get 2 of the double units (all this depends on how big they are though actually!)
