Hi guys, set up a new 200 litre with a new canister filter. I have taken a couple bags of media that I had in my old 60 litre. (They were just rocks/substrate in a netted bag that I kept by/inside the filter for the future, both bags about the size of my palm.) I have placed these bags inside the canister filter in the hope of fast starting the cycle. Is this likely to speed things up and if so, how long am I exoected to wait? I always have a bottle of interpet fast filter start, should I also addd this to the new tank? Thanks

If the filter media (bag of rocks) was established then the new filter should be ready to go now. Just minimise feeding for a few weeks and monitor ammonia and nitrite levels to make sure there aren't any spikes, and your good to go.

Like Colin said it should be okay if you pit in established media in there. Just make sure to test the water regularly just in case for the next couple of weeks.
