Is there a max number of corys that i can add at any one time?
E.G Im planning to get new corys on saturday and i just want to know how many i can get at one time.

I do have mature media and sand.

I have added a group of 8 and 10 separately at one time with no ill effects. I think it depends on the maturity of your filter and tank and also when adding new fish not so much a problem if keeping an eye on the water params and doing necessary water changes if there is a spike. If you wish to avoid these water changes or dont have a test kit available then I would suggest a lesser number.

So i have a choice of getting fish in multiples of 4, would 4 or 8 be better/ok?

corys arent massive waste producers like other fish, it also depends on the size of the fish too. i would go for 4 then add the rest in a week or so just to be safe. :good:

I would add 3/4 just to be on the safe side, although your have mature media the tank is newly set up,and has amy says, keep an eye on the stats.and it depends what size the corys are,if they're very small, you may get away with 8 :)

Ok thanx im thinking about albino cory size but i shall add 4, unless they have 4 pygmy cory's.
Oooh i saw some baby pygmy's yesterday they had the colouration and were obviously pygmy's but were only about 1cm lol sooo cute.

Just to update.
Im getting corys tomorrow and this is my tank as of now, i have a "disabled" guppy (has a deformed spine but is living perfectly fine, resting on things but perfectly fine) so i might pop it in with the corys.
