Hi,
I have a RIO 125L with a bioflow internal filter. I've bought an eheim 2213 external which I want to run alongside the internal.
The internal on the RIO is towards the back on the right hand side, the 'jet' coming out of the filter 'jets' water from right to left arond the surface of the tank.
I was under the impression I could set up my 2213 on the right (but wouldn't the water flow need to be in the same direction as the internal.
I have had a look at the intructions for this 2213 and they read like a nightmare. Any tips on setting this up will also be much appreciated.

Cheers

it would be optimum to have both filters creating a nice circular motion around the tank.

My internal is in the right hand corner flowing directly along the back towards the left corner. This is where my external outlet sits and this faces the front middle of the tank which curves the water out to the front and then towards the internal, thus completing the 'circle'

Thanks, sounds good, but this eheim 2213, by the look of it, the outlet has 6-7 holes which jet the outward water down.

Has anyone else got 1 of these eheim 2213's?

yep, what you want to know? if its how to direct the water outlet. just twist the pipe (the one with holes in) to the required direction

When I got my 2215, I found this set of instructions very helpful.

Amazing that a german made product can have such poorly written instructions. The above saved me.

Why not rip out the internal anyway?

I dont know my eheims that well, but im guessing that would be plenty of mechanical filtration for a 125L.
I have got a rio 240 with a Fluval 305 external. I ripped out the old internal, but kept the powerhead just for added motion

Thanks all for your advice

Have sorted out the installation now thanks to Karin, was just mythed on how to set it up to create the best waterflow alongside my internal filter (Where to position in and out pipes)
Karin: Great doc, am gonna set it up tomorrow on my day off, doc is so much better than instructions that were supplied. Thanks
Timmy_Bee: Know what you mean, but had a nightmare cycling the tank in the first place, would not want to lose all my hard earned good bacteria in the filter, and from waht I've read, you can never have TOO much filtration. May think of getting another eheim 2213 in future and ripping out internal, but for now, am looking forward to over filtration...exciting!!!
