hi fish forums. I'm planning to add some bn plecos to my 55 gallon. My tank has some cichlids like firemouth, convict, blue acara and 4 tiger barbs(adding more). My question is how many bn plecos could i add in the tank. My tank has algae everywhere on the background of my tank. If i add 4 more tiger barbs, how many bn plecos could i add? thank you if you responded.

Not an expert but the calculator at top might help with stocking advice and the 55 gal would be able to hold at least 2 adult BN (minimum) you could probably add more , just remember they can be poop machines, hopefully someone in the know will be along soon

I would say a adult group of three or four, another idea would be to buy a group of youngsters from some one, i just got 8 albinos for instance, but be prepared to rehome a few as they mature, that way you could get the sex ratio correct and being young growing fish they eat lots of algae and that should help you out, dont do that if you have problems passing them on though.
