Added Salt....

Hi all,

Last night I added 15kg of salt (red sea coral pro) to my new tank.

The levels are spot on (running at 1.024 to match my existing tank) but there is a lot of "dust" (I think calcium carbonate?) settled on the base and equipment.

How long does this take to clear usually? Can I add LR with this present?

If I can, I'll be off tomorrow to get 20kg

it probally wont clear, mine had it for days. but seffie said it was fine to add LR and sand, like she did
so you can add that rock

I used same salt and mine was cloudy for 3 days where you couldnt see! After that I had white powder on the bottom so kept stirring it up, I added LR a week after the salt and it has been fine! Cleared up nicely after 1 day of the LR!
You should be fine! I was worried too!

I put the sump online tonight after making sure all the pipes were watertight, as I had a drip from the pipework connector on the bulkhead - running a 100 Micron sock and its beginning to clear already!

Looking forward to tomorrow as its my first full weekend off for a while to get stuff done

Awesome! Its very exciting! I found it collected in my sump and then I added some filter floss which helped a little!
