Well I finally got the 10 gallon setup..
I have one question though, I just moved Mico (Red roundtail boy) into it and I wanted to also keep a few guppies in there, are they compatible?? I would only get 1 pair of them. Thanks!!!

no, i would not advise keeping a betta with any long finned fish, like a guppy,

stick to fish with normal finnage, not long

they nip them thinking theyre other bettas,

HTH

No I wouldn't do it either. I've had enough trouble with a clown loach and a betta and the clown only has short fins. Two contending males (Betta, Guppy) would result in fighting and I don't think that the guppy would last long in comparison to an angry phsyced up Betta :(

I would have also said no but my lfs has male guppies in with a male fighter. and they all seem very happy, the betta was in good condition so maybe it will be ok??!!

Hope this helps.

I think alot depends on the fish. For example on the forums many people have asked 'whats compatible with Bettas' and people have replied, but many other people have had conflicting views. Its a bit of try it and see but some fish are deffinatley (Sp?) a no no :D

I'd have to say no to a betta with guppies. I have one female betta who is peaceful enough to live with my guppies, and even she occasionally rips a tail off.

no i wouldn't because your betta may harras them or if your battas a pussy like mine is then he may get harrased by groups of larger guppies

Swords can get a bit nippy for a betta, ime. I've heard of people doing well pairing them with platies, but I've also heard of people whose bettas harassed the platies (presumably because they're the right body shape to be unwilling female bettas?). Bettas are sooo individual, mike777. Some of mine could probably be with other male bettas and not ever so much as flare, and others flare at the gravel in the bottoms of their tanks.

Alright thanks for your help, I guess I'll just put some cories and if something else catches my eye I will put that in too...
