out of curiosity ive noticed my beautiful newly obtained pleco for hours on end extremly hyper active ^^
but i was just wondering it swims to the top of the water extremly fast and then returns to where it was feeding is this somthing to be worried about or not?
also its a common pleco

low oxgen levels.. do your other fish do that?

well im pretty sure the oxygen levels are ok as i have an air pump and live plant in there was a bit worried about there being to much oxygen tbh due to reading a forum about a disease caused by too much oxygen and the tank siz is as follows:
Length-30"
Width-12"
depth-15"
and its just the common pleco and 7 goldfish :)
planning on getting 100/150gal tank in the near future.
just need to know whether or not it is normal behavior.
also should i start trying my pleco on cucumber she 2.5" atm not entirely sure if size matters when feeding them veg?
also any appropriate size slices of cucumber i should give it ?

any help would be great tyvm :)

Have you got the link to this 'too much' oygen disease thing sound very interesting.....
Unless you mean Gas Bubble Disease?

no my tank isnt heated but its 69of and yeh gbd is what i meant where the skin crakles ect hopefully there isnt too much oxygen in the water =/well it hasnt been acting this way today not that ive seen maybe it was just where it was settling in as it was newly aquired yesterday?

You shouldn't be keeping a Pleco in a coldwater tank as they are a tropical fish.
He'll also need a lot bigger tank as they can grow up to 18".
Please either rehome your Pleco or get a heater for the tank.

im getting a larger tank and the full equipment soon but apparently that heat is ok as the place i got it from they where in 60of this is according to the lfs but ive seen a few articals on here now saying they have been wrong but thanx for the advice :)

I'd advise you to take it back to the lfs for now and wait until you have the new tank up and running before getting another one. It will be much fairer on your Pleco in the long run. ;)

My plec started doing that (swimming up to the surface and back again really fast) when my air pump broke! I'm pretty sure it's because of a lack of oxygen - he never did it before and hasn't done it since!

And as for the cucumber, I've been feeding it to mine since I got him (when he was only one tiny little inch long) and he's always loved it!

Hope that helps some!
