Hi, I have 5 zebra loaches in a 125l tank. I've had them for 8 weeks and they are very rarely seen during the day. I am looking to add active, fun to watch loaches so I can actually view during the day.
I was thinking of the yo yo loach or polka dot loach, any other fun to watch loaches that any one would recommend??
Thanks
Karen

My dwarf chain loaches (Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki) are active all day long. At feeding time they even swim in mid level till the food sinks! They are the smallest loach though and you may be wanting something a bit bigger.

I think Dwarf loaches sound intersting. Are they really fun to watch. Would 6 be the minimum that should be kept??

They should be kept in minimum of four, but more would be better. Mine are amusing to watch. It's fascinating to watch them play 'hunt the pellet' then pounce on it, clicking as they eat it. They swim up to mid level, but being bottom dwellers, they soon come down again. They do have a tendancy to 'run over' any other fish that swims across their path, other than that, they ignore all my other fish.

You may have to hunt for a shop that sells them, and when you do find some, be warned, they can be a bit pricey. I paid £7.50 each for mine.

mmm quite expensive, I seen them online at tri-mar aquatics so might order them from there.
Should they be ok with tiger barbs you think??

I've never kept my loaches with anything even slightly aggressive, so I don't know about tiger barbs. How are the barbs with your zebra loaches? I would think the barbs would treat them the same, but you might want to check with other tiger barb owners.
