Good day,

I was recently reading a fish book and everywhere it says to use activated carbon.
I have never use it, so do I really have to have it in my external filter?

Also my shrimp recently died, and nobody knows why, I found in a book that they might die
during the molting process if in the tank not enough iodine. I never tested iodine because I was told that
there is no such test that gives you proper result. I purchase iodine but never use it.

Should I start using it, maybe shrimp died because of that? I have another fire shrimp and I am afraid that
she will go the same way that the other one.

Please help! :)

If you do regular water changes, there is no need to supplement your tank with iodine. Activated carbon is a personal call but I don't use it. I DO use several other media inserts tho' including a phosphate binder and ChemiPure. SH

I do 10% water change a week. I also use phosphate remover.
Is that helping by using ChemiPure? is it safe enough?

Thank you
