Hello,

I Have had the vision 260 for nearly a year i have eventually removed the internal filter and replaced with tetratec ex1200. I think it is a good filter but I still don't seem to achieve clear water. There always seems to be small particles floating around. The spray bar is on the left flowing down the tank and the syphon tube on the right. There is plenty of water movement.

My biggest fish 3 x 5" Tinfoil barbs and 6" C.A.E do produce a lot of waste but water changes every week keep the stats good.

Am I expecting to much or is the filter not properly set up. It came with two pouches of carbon which i do not use. The filter set up has coral sand added to keep my Ph stable but everything else as by the book.

Any Ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

I have two pads fitted in it (not sure if its filter floss) I used it as the top layer for my Internal juwel filter.

I will check in a couple of weeks to see if it manages to filter any of the waste

Not sure if it should be used with the EX1200 filter as the sponges already used sit on top of each other.

You need to get as much floss in there as possible! Going to extremes to achieve crystal clear water comes with its risks unless you use two external filters. I used to use a Filstar XP1 full of filter floss, plus my Fluval, running its normal Mechanical/chemical/bio setup. I always found that the maintenance needs of the floss loaded filter were much higher, ie it blocked faster. so there you go! Floss, Floss, Floss. JBL do some really good floss, its called Symech Mix, and it's a little better at avoiding the 'clogging' issues I have just mentioned. Or if you want to change it the day after fitting it, try the Symec micro, its brilliant at polishing the water!
