I need some advice for my Betta who's not doing so well. He always seems to be the first to get sick when there's a bug about.
At the moment I'm treating for Ich, as he's got numerous tiny white spots on his fins, but luckily none on his body. His fins are tattered too. The other fish in the tank are fine though.
He's feeding normally, still nibbling my finger when I feed him, and swimming actively. He gets a good mix of frozen blood worm, and a good flake. My water stats are Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, and Nitrate very low as I have a lot of plants in my tank. 30% water change once a week. He's unperturbed by the other fish in the tank, and never flares. He does alot of patrolling.
I have a mild current in my tank due to the internal filter, but it's mostly at the surface where he tends to hang about, and perhaps is making his life hard. So I'm thinking of building him a little see-through plastic shelter using flat sheets of thick acetate. Hopefully he can rest there and still get a good look about.
Anyone else done this? Any design tips? Near the surface? Open top? Or perhaps an easier way of doing it?
